Army Institute of Law (AIL), Mohali

The Army Institute of Law (AIL), established in 1999 by the Indian Army under the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), is a premier residential law school in Mohali, Punjab. Formally inaugurated in its permanent campus by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in 2003, AIL is renowned for its disciplined environment and high academic standards. Affiliated with Punjabi University, Patiala, and approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI), the institute carries the motto "Aspire & Achieve," focusing on developing legal experts for the judiciary, corporate world, and the Indian Armed Forces.

Admission Process & Eligibility (2026)

Admissions for the 2026 academic session are currently active through the AIL Law Entrance Test (LET).

  • B.A. LL.B. (5-Year):
    • Admission Test: Mandatory AIL LET 2026 (Online CBT mode).
    • Exam Date: July 5, 2026.
    • Application Window: April 22 to June 5, 2026 (Late fee applies until June 10).
    • Eligibility: 10+2 with a minimum of 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST). Candidates with compartment papers are not eligible.
  • LL.M. (1-Year):
    • Selection: Based on merit and performance in the LL.M. entrance test.
    • Eligibility: Minimum 55% in a 5-year integrated B.A. LL.B. or 3-year LL.B. program.
  • Punjab Domicile: Candidates from the Punjab Civil Category are admitted based on 12th-grade merit without the LET exam.
