Rishihood University, located in Sonipat, Haryana, is India’s first impact-oriented university built on the vision of nurturing leaders who combine knowledge, character, and action. Inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy of education as a process of “life-building, man-making, and character-making,” the university emphasizes holistic development rather than rote learning. Its mission is to create impact at three levels: people, thought, and systems by cultivating self-leadership in students, encouraging innovative problem-solving, and collaborating with government, corporates, and non-profits to scale social change. The institution defines its students as “Rishileaders,” embodying three core values: Jigyasa (curiosity and humility to learn), Chikirsha (courage and will to act), and Ananda (joy of being with integrity and harmony). Established through the efforts of leaders from diverse fields such as business, public life, spirituality, and social entrepreneurship, Rishihood University has grown from the Vision India Foundation, launched in 2014, to its inauguration in 2021. With schools in public leadership, creativity, education, and entrepreneurship, the university offers multidisciplinary programs like BBA, B.Design, and B.Sc (Hons) Psychology, designed to prepare students for leadership roles across sectors. Its campus is envisioned as an energising space that fosters happiness, community, and excellence, making Rishihood not just an academic institution but a movement to cultivate socially conscious leaders for the future.
