Govt. College, Sector-9, Gurugram was ab initio established in the year 2003. Due to the growing demand for a college to accommodate the substantially increased number of students residing in the older part of the city and neighboring villages, the Haryana Urban Development Authority under the direction of Govt. of Haryana established this institution. It was inaugurated by the then hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana Ch. Om Prakash Chautala on Wednesday, 23rd August 2003. This institution embarked on its voyage in the academic session 2003-04. Initially the college offered admissions only in the Humanities and Commerce streams at the Under Graduate level. However, soon, Post-Graduation in Economics and Mathematics were introduced. Along with this giant leap, Honours courses in English and Economics commenced in 2005.
The first job-oriented course i.e. Bachelor in Business Administration was also introduced. Over the years new courses have been added. Presently the college offers Under Graduate courses in Arts, Commerce and Non-medical streams. Job oriented courses – BBA, BCA and BTTM equip the young boys and girls for getting the lucrative jobs. The students are admitted as per the guidelines issued by the Higher Education Department. By imparting analytic, value-based education the college has acquired a reputation of excellence in this region of Haryana. The Principal, the members of college fraternity, the ministerial staff and the support staff work tirelessly to make the college a coveted and sought after institution for higher learning.

Admission to various programmes is based on the merit and eligibility of applicants. Simply meeting the prescribed academic qualifications does not guarantee admission.
The admission process is conducted in three rounds of counselling:
First Round of Counselling – First Merit List
Second Round of Counselling – Second Merit List
Third Round of Counselling – Physical/Open Counselling
The first merit list is prepared programme-wise by the admission system on the basis of:
Marks obtained in the best five subjects in the qualifying examination.
Applicable weightage, if any.
Programme-wise seat availability and the State Reservation Policy.
Completion of online document verification.
Submission of the admission form before the prescribed deadline.
If a programme offers different subject combinations, the applicant will be considered according to the preference order selected in the application form.
For example, if the applicant selects subject combinations in the order S2, S1 and S3, the system will first check seat availability in S2, followed by S1 and S3. The applicant will be allotted only one subject combination according to merit and availability.
If an applicant applies for the same programme in multiple colleges, the seat will be considered according to the applicant's preferred college order and merit.
For example, if the preference is College B, College C and College A, the system will consider these colleges in that order, subject to merit and seat availability.
If an applicant applies for different programmes, seats may be offered in more than one programme, subject to programme-wise merit and availability.
An applicant who is allotted a seat in the first merit list may choose the "Defer" option for consideration in the second merit list, provided that the applicant has not received their first-choice preference.
The second merit list is prepared for applicants who:
Submitted their application before the prescribed deadline; and
Were not offered admission in the first merit list.
The second merit list follows the same basic criteria as the first merit list, including merit, preferences, reservation and seat availability.
If an applicant receives a seat in the first merit list but does not pay the required fee within the specified time, they will normally not be considered for the second merit list, unless they have opted for the Defer facility.
Applicants who are offered a seat in the second merit list must also pay the fee within the prescribed deadline. Those who do not take admission may participate in physical counselling, subject to seat availability.
Note: The second round of counselling is not applicable to PG admissions.
After the first and second rounds, colleges conduct Physical/Open Counselling for the remaining vacant seats.
A programme-wise Waiting List of Interested Students is provided to colleges through the admission portal.
Applicants who did not secure admission during the first or second counselling rounds must report physically to the concerned college to participate in open counselling.
Fresh registration and editing of applications are permitted from the beginning of physical counselling. Newly registered applicants will be considered along with existing applicants in subsequent merit lists.
The college prepares and displays its own merit list for physical counselling on the basis of:
University/Government admission rules.
Merit.
Category-wise seat availability.
State Reservation Policy.
Eligibility and document verification.
The college is responsible for maintaining records of filled and vacant seats during physical counselling.
Once a candidate is selected during physical counselling, the college enables the fee-payment option on the admission portal.
The candidate must pay the required fee and confirm/book the seat on the same day on which the seat is offered.
The candidate can view the colleges and programmes in which seats have been offered through their student login.
The concerned college must verify the applicant's:
Eligibility
Application form
Supporting documents
Admission-related information
The college is required to confirm that the candidate fulfils all applicable admission requirements.
For seats in Government Colleges, payment for a seat offered during physical counselling must be made online by 12:00 midnight on the same day.
If a candidate already has a seat from the first or second merit list and chooses to book a fresh seat through physical counselling, the earlier allotment will be cancelled through the prescribed process.
For Aided and Self-Financing Colleges, candidates may generally pay:
Online, by 12:00 midnight on the day of seat allotment; or
Offline/cash, during the college's working hours, where permitted.
The college portal provides the necessary option for recording offline payments and applicable concessions.
Where permitted, a college may offer a fee concession.
For example, if the total course fee is ₹25,000 and the student pays ₹10,000 initially while receiving an ₹8,000 concession, the remaining ₹7,000 will be recorded as pending payment and must be paid according to the applicable rules.
Eligible SC students of Haryana may be able to avail themselves of fee concessions or Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS) benefits, subject to the applicable government conditions.
For online admissions, eligibility may be verified through the relevant government-verified data. For offline admissions, the concerned college will verify the required income certificate and other documents.
If a student has already taken admission through the first or second merit list and subsequently chooses a seat through physical counselling, the earlier admission may be cancelled as per the prescribed procedure, and any applicable refund will be processed by the previous college according to the rules.
However, if a student books a seat during physical counselling and later wants to change to another college or programme, the previous admission will not automatically be cancelled.
The student must physically visit the concerned college and complete the cancellation procedure before booking the new seat, wherever required.
After successful seat booking and fee payment:
The payment/admission receipt will be available in the student's login.
The status of any previous allotted seat will be updated according to the applicable cancellation rules.
Colleges will have access to consolidated admission records for students admitted through physical counselling.
Where applicable, Sports Category seats will be filled by the concerned colleges during physical counselling in accordance with the rules of the affiliating university and the State Government.
No admission will be permitted without registration and submission of the admission application form through the official admission portal.
Candidates should carefully follow the prescribed deadlines, preference order, document-verification requirements and fee-payment timelines to avoid cancellation of their allotted seat.
A cut-off description (or cut-off summary/list) typically refers to a list or overview showing the minimum marks, ranks, or scores required for admission into various courses or programs.
For Government College, Sector-9, Gurugram, cut-off percentages vary each academic session depending on:
Category: General, SC, BC-A, BC-B, EWS, physical handicap, outside Haryana, etc.
Stream/Course: Popular courses like B.Com, BCA, and B.A. Computer Applications generally have higher cut-off percentages compared to traditional general streams.
Admission Merit List Round: 1st Merit List cut-offs are higher, which then lower slightly in subsequent lists (2nd List, Open Counselling/Physically Active rounds).
